Directions

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch (23×33 cm) baking dish.
  2. Separate the cinnamon rolls and slice each roll horizontally into two thinner rounds. Press half of them evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking dish, slightly overlapping to form a solid base.
  3. In a skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the sliced apples, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Cook for 6–8 minutes, stirring gently, until the apples soften and release a sweet, spiced aroma. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  4. In a mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth. Add heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract, mixing until creamy and spreadable.
  5. Spread half of the cream cheese mixture evenly over the cinnamon roll base. The layer should look smooth and silky.
  6. Spoon the cooked apple mixture evenly over the cream layer, making sure the apples are well distributed.
  7. Add the remaining cinnamon roll slices on top, gently pressing them down. Spread the remaining cream cheese mixture over this layer.
  8. Cover loosely with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15–20 minutes, until the top is golden and the center is set.
  9. Remove from the oven and allow to cool for 10 minutes. Warm the reserved cinnamon roll icing and drizzle generously over the top. Sprinkle with nuts if desired.
  10. Slice and serve warm for the ultimate gooey, layered dessert experience.
